I am in my fourth year of professional baseball and in the last three years I have tried to train on my own, it was not until I came to RedLine that I got the right direction and instruction that helped me take my game to a new level. To compete against the best you need an edge and RedLine gave me that edge. They helped me become the most athletic and explosive player I could be, helping me achieve the off-season goals I need to compete against big league baseball players. Thank you RedLine for your help and I look forward to another off-season with you next year.

Marko has come to us with an incredible resume. He was drafted in the 2004 NFL Draft by the New York Jets and played on the offensive line for two plus years. Later in his career, he played two years in the Canadian Football League and also two years in Europe, where he led his team to two World Bowls!!!

Marko was a scholarship winner at UC-Sacramento State, where he had a 42 consecutive game starting streak while attending the university. However, Cavka is not only limited to football. While growing up, he played club volleyball as well.

Many of you may not realize, but RedLine’s entire training staff has reached the professional ranks!!! So we know what it takes to get to the desired destination of our athletes. Many training places put a premium on the academia of training; whether it is speed, strength, or skills themselves, however, the ownership of RedLine takes it one step further. We want our staff to be able to speak from professional personal experience as well as know the latest techniques being taught by the pros, at major universities, and also by the fitness field gurus!!!

I just want to say thank you, RedLine, for all you have done for my boys. The dedication to what you do and the enthusiasm are appreciated, but it goes way beyond that. When my oldest started working out at RedLine, I knew immediately, after seeing what you do that he would eat it up! All he’s ever thought about is play, play, play, work, work, work, and the more he plays, the more he wants to work! He has grown so much and I know that RedLine is a big influence on him. The training staff are people he looks up to, big time! On the other hand, when my youngest came to me and told me he wanted to do RedLine, I was a bit nervous. Whereas my oldest has enough confidence for an entire team, the younger forgot to get in that line when he was born. I’ve always known he had every bit as much physical talent as his older brother, but he never knew it! Well, Little Mister “I Suck” has taken to RedLine like a duck to water. Now he lives, breathes, and sleeps baseball!! When I see him, hour after hour, in the backyard throwing the ball against the wall, or hitting the wiffle balls, or dragging his dad to the field, it makes me want to cry. It hasn’t been easy being the “little brother”, both on the field and in the classroom, but he is starting to believe in himself and he’s finally found something he truly loves! He looks forward to every day he gets to come see the RedLine guys! As a teacher, I “get” that kids look up to certain people, and as a mom of these two boys, I know they are obviously going to look up to athletes. I am thrilled that they have gotten to know RedLine’s staff, and truly appreciate that they care! My boys think the world of RedLine, and for that I am truly thankful!

My daughter has always loved to play sports. But thanks to the trainers at RedLine Athletics, I’ve watched my daughter make a noticeable transformation to an athlete ready to compete at the college level.

Not only are the trainers at RedLine generous with their time, but they take a personal interest in the success of their athletes on and off the field, court, or pool. Their expertise is obvious – from implementing the latest professional training techniques to monitoring and addressing conditions that might lead to injury – I have quickly grown comfortable that my daughter is in a professionally managed, but fun, high-energy environment that keeps her motivated. The fact that Lauren eagerly stops at RedLine for training or batting practice after a long day of school or after her regular team practices speaks volumes for the culture created for the athletes at RedLine.

Speed, Power, Core. It appears as though those words are more than a motto at RedLine. I’ve seen my daughter improve in all three categories of fitness. I only wish I had an opportunity to train at a place like RedLine when I was a high school athlete. The atmosphere at RedLine is contagious.

For any parent who places a value on personal training, and personal attention for their children, RedLine is THE facility in South Orange County worth your consideration.

RedLine Athletics has expanded into the adjacent building to the north of the current location. The training facility has added an office, and A LOT of warehouse space for the skill portion of the training sessions. We have hung two hitting tunnels. A basketball skills area is in the works (to be completed shortly), and management is also working on meeting the needs of our volleyball athletes by installing a net.

However, most importantly, there is no way we could have pulled this off without our loyal and dedicated clients!!! We owe each and everyone of you a huge THANK YOU, and we look forward to showing you around the expansion of YOUR training facility.

Thanks again for making RedLine what it is today. See you soon!

2009 was a year of ups and downs, to say the least. However, the only down was out of our control! With the state of our national economic situation RedLine felt the burden like most of you, but with that we were able to show that RedLine is more then just about making money and shuffling clients through as quickly as possible. We want all our loyal clients to know that we appreciate each of you and truly want the best for you.

Now on the upside… first of all, we got this killer new site!!! We hope that it is informative and helpful, yet enjoyable and easy to browse around.

RedLine has added trainers, of the highest quality (Mike Elkerson formerly with the Atlanta Braves, Mike Bolio recently from the NFL-Europe). We’ve brought back a former intern (Brad Hinkle of the Cleveland Indians. Who by the way, got married on Dec 19th.), and advanced a trainer (Dan Cummins formerly with the New York Mets) to be the head of the Baseball Department. We’ve also added a outside recruiter, Neal Schultz, who goes around to schools and other athletic organizations to promote RedLine.

In the process of gaining all these great trainers we’ve lost of few along the way. Alex Gonzales decided to go back to school and continue his baseball career, and Dave Elecciri has pursued his music career. We wish both of them the best of luck in their ventures.

Over the past year our clients have reached their goals and gotten the scholarships they thought were unattainable. We’ve had little guys make All Stars. We’ve had some loose weight to make a weight division in Pop Warner Football. Some even went from bench warmers to team leaders and major contributors. We’ve had eighth graders go into high school and not only make the freshman team, but also JV and Varsity in a number of sports!!!

Kevin Chambers and the Capo Valley Baseball Team won CIF-SS!!! Then he was off to Oklahoma State University on a scholarship, even after being drafted by the Detroit Tiger in the June amateur draft. Leyla Simmons also won CIF-SS with the Dana Hills Tennis Team, and she too is at Oklahoma State University on a tennis scholarship. Joel Atkinson, San Clemente’s Shortstop, singed his scholarship AT REDLINE to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall of 2010! (Watch his video on the Home Page) Connor de Phillippi raced in and won the Skip Barbor School of Racing Series, and now his future is just starting to open up in the Indy style racing world. RedLine helped place Blaine Jones and Max Whieldon up at Seattle University on baseball scholarships. Zack Richmond signed his scholarship to Colorado State-Pueblo. Robby Ross signed his scholarship to Point Loma Nazarene University. Janae O’Connor signed and is playing volleyball at BIOLA University. Chrissie Massrey gave her verbal commitment to attend the academically challenging Tufts University to play softball for them. Kris Paulino gave his verbal commitment to play outfield for University of California-Irvine. Rich Kemp signed his scholarship to pitch for Cal State-East Bay. Melissa Chavez is playing volleyball at Saddleback College and leads her team in nearly every offensive category. Devynn Sharpe competed and took 6th at the US Figure Skating Nationals for couples this December, and now her sites are set on the next winter Olympics, seems how she is under of legal competing age limit of 16!

Well, as you can see, the clients that are consistent and put in the work have a lot of good things going their way! We would love to have more stories like each one of these, and it could be you or your young athlete! 2010 looks extremely promising for our clients! So, let’s get to work and aim for the stars!!!! Happy New Year

That’s the title of an Orange County Register article featuring RedLine Athletics. Below is the text of the entire article, written by Paul Bersebach of the Register:

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – Being able to run an athletic training facility was a dream of Lyndsey Simmons’ since he was a young boy.

With RedLine Athletics in San Juan Capistrano, he is able to live it as the facility’s owner. Simmons, a 27-year-old former Mets and Nationals minor-leaguer, was on the Mets’ spring-training roster as a catcher. Lyndsey Simmons is the owner of RedLine Athletics in San Juan Capistrano.

“Being in baseball and having a wife and two kids was very taxing on my family,” Simmons said. “I would be gone for about 10 out of 12 months. So I decided to retire. I was right on the brink of breaking into the big leagues. I hung it up when my daughter was born.”

Simmons’ passion for baseball has been channeled into his passion for the gym, which opened in 2005 in Laguna Niguel and moved to its current location on Calle Perfecto this year. The business is planning on opening a second facility in January somewhere in south Orange County.

“We’re definitely not comfortable, we’re not complacent,” Simmons said. “Being new, we have a chip on our shoulder. You’re not going to beat our youth or our energy … our kids feel like they belong to a club.”

Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback Carson Palmer, who starred at Santa Margarita Catholic High School and USC, is a RedLine client, as is his younger brother and Bengals third-string QB Jordan.

RedLine has helped athletes excel in sports like baseball, football, tennis, golf, basketball, softball and volleyball, to name a few.

“I feel way more satisfied owning this gym than I did in all my years playing baseball,” Simmons said. “We’re an all-sport gym. There really hasn’t been a sport we haven’t done.”

It has helped produce results for local area athletes. Consultant Neal Schultz estimates that 80 percent of the members are between the ages of 12 and 22. They include Oregon State linebacker Ben Terry, who played at Saddleback College, and pitcher John Lamb, a fifth-round pick in 2008 of the Kansas City Royals.

Another example is starting pitcher Jeff Kaplan of the St. Lucie Mets, a single-A affiliate of the New York Mets. Kaplan played at Cal-State Fullerton and at Irvine Valley College. Kaplan finished 7-7 with a 2.45 earned-run average this season.

“I needed a place to step up and complete at the next level,” Kaplan said. “RedLine has been the place that’s done that. They have a good relationship with the Mets, they know what I’m doing. They help me do my strength and agility work. It gives me all the aspects I need to be a pro athlete.”

Two more recent examples are Dana Hills’ starting pitcher, Aflac All-American and UCLA verbal commit Peter Tago, projected to be a first- or second-round pick in next year’s Major League Baseball Draft; and left-handed pitcher Zach Johnson, who accepted a full-ride scholarship to play at San Diego State University. There are various clients from lacrosse to even a professional race car driver, Connor De Phillippi.

“I want to make a positive impact on the kids’ lives,” Simmons said. “We’ve helped them land 30 athletic scholarships in three years.”

The training involves a personal trainer at nearly all times. Simmons gives free one-hour evaluations himself and is on the premises nearly every day. The athletes are first put through a series of tests, like vertical jumps, strength and flexibility tests.

“What makes us unique is we work on very specific areas,” Simmons said. “If someone has a tight hamstring, we make sure he’s loose so he doesn’t injure himself later on. We have an arm care device, which strengthens a quarterback’s rotator cuff so he’s used to throwing over and over and doesn’t get hurt.”

Simmons did not necessarily go into too much detail talking about the equipment, which includes a Vertimax machine, which involves resistance plyometrics and a Bungie cord that connects to the person to provide resistance. There is also overspeed training, in which a Bungie cord is tied to the waist and springs the runner forward. There are also free weights and kettle bells.

But he boasts about his staff. They include former Mets strength and conditioning coach Eric Korop, head baseball and softball coach Dan Cumins, who played for five years in the Mets’ organization, and Brad Hinkle, who pitched for the Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates.

“My staff has had the highest amount of training and they’ve played at the highest level,” Simmons said. “That’s my secret weapon is our staff. My first question in some of our job interviews is, ‘What’d you play?’ If they’ve played high school or community college, or they’ve only read about it in a book, we’re not going to hire them.”
