Redline Athletics is proud to announce our new premier club baseball team for ages 13 and under – The Orange County Angels. The OC Angels’ coaching staff includes Mike Elkerson, manager and hitting instructor, and Zac Johnston, assistant coach and pitching instructor.
Mike Elkerson, currently the head of hitting development at Redline Athletics, is a former outfielder with the Atlanta Braves organization. Prior to playing for the Braves, Mike was a standout at Abilene Christian University and attended high school locally at San Clemente High School. Zac Johnston, currently head of pitching development, began his career at Saddleback College and became one of the most highly recruited junior college left-handed pitchers in the nation. He signed with San Diego State University, where Tony Gwynn is the head coach. Zac, also local to Orange County, attended high school at Mission Viejo.
This team is an incredible opportunity for young baseball players to learn and gain instruction from former professional and collegiate baseball players. Our main goal is to provide all of our athletes with the skill, training, and knowledge that will build character and instill confidence to help them reach the next level.
Additionally, Redline Athletics is teaming with our program to provide its facility and impressive staff to train all team members at a discounted rate. This program includes: running mechanics, speed and acceleration training, plyometrics/agility, and strength training. All necessary tools to help athletes reach the next level. The benefit to the Redline training program is that it simulates many college and professional level baseball programs, with baseball skill work and practice, but it includes the bonus of speed and strength training.
For more information, or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Mike at 949-291-3090 or email him at Mike@redlineathletics.com. We look forward to meeting everyone and beginning a premier baseball program.
Thank you,
Mike and Zac

Where SURFING recognizes surfers before they’re recognizable.
NAME: Kulia Doherty
AGE: 14
HOME: San Clemente, California
SCHOOL: Capistrano Connections Academy
SPONSORS: Body Glove, Dakine, FCS, RedLine Athletics, Bubble Gum, SurfCo, Oakley.
It’s okay if you haven’t heard of Kulia Doherty yet, but prepare yourself to hear about her a lot from now on. She already has eight wins to her name in the Southwest Open and Explorer divisions, and the season’s just getting started. In the past two weekends alone, at Huntington and Mission Beach, Kulia’s claimed two Open Girls and two Open Womens victories. Where did this girl come from?
“A couple of months ago I started working with a personal trainer at RedLine Athletics,” Kulia says. “It’s really helped me to get in the correct mind frame of winning, and we have worked on my stamina a lot, too.”
That’s all well and good, but where did she come from?
“I was born and raised on Maui on a Taro farm,” Kulia explains. “We grew a bunch of fruits and vegetables; it was super fun gardening and planting new crops. I came to San Clemente for NSSA Nationals and my family and I thought it was a super fun town so we moved here last year. I love California, surfing perfect Lower Trestles everyday with a bunch of my friends. It’s a really fun experience.”
