De Phillippi Wins BIG!!!!
– Braselton, GA (Sept. 25, 2009)
RedLine Athletics client, Connor De Phillippi (San Clemente, CA) has been named as one of two recipients of prestigious Team USA Scholarships. He will follow in the footsteps of an array of accomplished American drivers who have earned these awards since Jimmy Vasser became the first Team USA Scholarship winner in 1990.
De Phillippi will have an opportunity to fly his nation’s colors in two world-renowned events in England later this month – the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and the Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone.
“I am thrilled to be representing the United States and the Team USA Scholarship,” said 16-year-old De Phillippi, who has taken a commanding lead in this year’s BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda, winning seven of 10 races held thus far. “It is my first big shot to prove myself on the European circuit. I look forward to meeting many new people in the racing community and hopefully posting some excellent results.”
RedLine is proud to be Connor’s training facility of choice and wish him the best of luck in Europe!!
RedLine’s Summer Reveiw

Where to begin…
How about the training. Throughout the summer we have had a training program that was designed to help all our athletes get stronger, faster and more athletic. From Division 1 and professional athletes coming back to train with us to kids getting on board with the unlimited training and spending hours at RedLine per day. Some of our athletes put on 10-20 pounds of strength, while some shaved as much as a WHOLE second off their 60 yard dash. The RedLine record for cone hops was rewritten this summer as well, by Adrienne Anderson(74).
Next, our scholarship athletes. This is one thing we are most proud of. We had a number of baseball players sign with new schools for this school year. Kevin Chambers, who was also drafted by the Detroit Tigers, signed and move to Stillwater, OK to play for Oklahoma State Univ. Blaine Jones and Max Whieldon signed and committed to Seattle University. Zack Richmond signed with Colorado State-Pueblo just after throwing a bullpen at RedLine. Robbie Ross signed with Point Loma Nazarene Univ. in San Diego. Rich Kemp signed with Cal State-East Bay.
As for other sports, Leyla Simmons signed with Oklahoma State to play tennis, then, so did Alexandra Cristello, a close friend of Leyla. Connor DePhillippi has also developed into a real up-and-coming star on the racing circuit. He earned a scholarship from the Skip Barbor School of Racing, and so far for this year he is the points leader. Finally, Dennis Anderson is at Arizona State University playing lacrosse.
Last but not least, our training staff. Brad Hinkle decided to retire from playing professional baseball in order to build his future with RedLine. As many of you know, Brad interned with us while he finished us his degree and got ready for pro ball a few summers ago, but now he makes Orange County his home. He is back to help young athletes with training and sport/skill specific needs. However, with gaining one, we lost a great trainer! Alex Gonzales decided to go back and play college baseball. Since deciding to go back and play, Alex has turned to the knowledgeable staff to help him get prepared for the upcoming school year. So, even though we lost a great trainer, we are happy for Alex and know that Saddleback CC is getting one of the best athletes in the state.
With the new “season” coming, it brings us to a great opportunity. RedLine is actively looking for a second location, and when we decide on the additional location the news will go out and you all will know about it.
We want to thank all of our loyal clients for a great summer! With the new school year upon us, don’t forget what we do here for our athletes… SPEED-POWER-CORE! Tryouts are lurking and other kids have been working hard to take your athletes spot on the roster, so let us help!
Erik’s Active Warm-Up Exercise 4

Knee Pull Lunge & Twist: In order to keep the warm-up functional and an unfolding process of the body, the next warm-up warm exercise is a variation of the knee pull. A lunge and twist can be added to the initial knee pull. The twist, however, is performed by twisting your upper body over/across the leg that is in the forward position of the lunge. This exercise is a great way to help loosen the glutes and hamstrings as well as the abdominal muscles, I-T bands, spinal erectors, and the lumbar region . Plus, while performing this stretch, balance will also be worked on and enhanced. To execute this exercise, pull one knee as high as possible toward the chest while still maintaining balance (with a straight leg) on the leg that is grounded. After holding the knee at it’s highest position for 3 seconds, release it and step forward into a lunge position and twist across the front knee. Hold the twist for a moment then stand up and repeat the process. This exercise can be repeated 5-15 times per leg.
Brad’s Pitching Tips – Part 2

Low pitches produce low ERA’s! No matter the pitch, anything located low in the strike zone will consistently give good results for any pitcher. Throw low, hard strikes and you will have a lower ERA than throwing in any other location!
Colby Tan Runs Ahead of the Rest

Colby Tan has run a 6.61 second 60-yard dash at RedLine, and his speed didn’t let him down at a recent scout team tryout. Out of the 70 baseball players at the tryout Colby was the 4th fastest player to run. Less then 6 months ago, he had a knee injury that took him out of the rest of his high school season, but he wouldn’t let that slow him down. Colby has worked extremely hard with the knowledgeable trainers at RedLine and because of his dedication to his training he reconditioned the bum knee and earned a spot on the Oakland A’s scout team.
